Infatuation (time and the weather)

Look out! Snow is coming…….

How much you wanted to see

those exquisite ice crystals on your sleeve

that come with the first fall

And you marvel how

large flakes are now

piling into drifts

- the snow is gathering its own momentum

above your field of vision – storm clouds

Ah yes! We know about the weather –

for do we not speak of it every day?

And you have laughed to feel young again

and you eat some –

it melts against the back of your teeth

and just here it’s like walking on shiny sugar

- the diamond state of water

If you go home

to the warmth of the fire inside

and see these days of yours burning away

as the hours pass; well

we surely have time to spend on this –

for do we not take it every day?

Oh no!

We cannot say that snow did not change the world

- and cling to the hedgerows for some days

slinking along the roadway

abandoned and mangy
